Cleaning and Maintenence

Clean and tidy rentals are the best way to make sure guests return and leave great reviews. However, guests make messes. Even the nicest, tidiest guests aren’t going to sweep and dust and polish your rental before they leave, and the next guests will want to stay in a clean and comfortable place. So here are our tips and tricks for cleaning every room of the house.

Who’s Doing the Cleaning?

First things first, no matter how many cool tools you buy, someone has to put them to use. It’s up to your specific situation whether you want to clean your own rental or hire out, but keep in mind the number of units you have, how much time you have, and your own skills and availability to clean up after guests.

Tools

These last for a while, and should largely be stored away from guests. While many of them can be an investment, it’s important to have the best tools possible for yourself or your cleaning staff to get the best clean possible.

  • Broom
    • We like this angled one, for getting in all the corners and under furniture.
    • Don’t forget the dustpan
  • Mop
    • This steam mop does a lovely job of sanitizing and dries quickly with no harsh chemical smells
  • Toilet Brush
    • This toilet brush stays tucked away in it’s neat little case, avoiding drips and odor.
  • Carpet Cleaner
    • Good for rugs and installed carpets
  • Duster
    • Dust is so easy to forget, but it makes a huge difference in how clean your rental feels.
  • Drain Protector
    • It’s much easier to dump food out of here than to dig it out of the sink drain
  • Sink Strainer
  • Paper Towel Holder
    • For guests to clean up their own spills when necessary
  • Shelf Liner
    • Keep your shelves clean and easy to clean with these shelf liners
  • Small Trash Can
    • The more trash cans available to guests, the less chance guests will leave trash around your rental.
  • Large Kitchen Trash
    • A swing top trash can keep odors in, while remaining easy to use.
  • Shower Liner
    • Traps water and soap from inside the shower, preventing spills and puddles on your bathroom floor.
  • Mattress Protector
    • It’s much easier to clean this than to clean your expensive mattress, prime shipping or not.
